Matthew Staton Bomer was born in 1977 in Webster Groves, Missouri. He grew up with two siblings in Spring, Texas. He acted at Alley Theatre and graduated from Klein High School. He then attended Carnegie Mellon University. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2001.
Matt’s first television award nomination came in 2012 for a guest appearance on Glee. In 2013, Matt was nominated for an MTV Movie Award for his role in Magic Mike. His first wins came in 2014 with wins for his role in the television film The Normal Heart.
Matt married Simon Halls in 2011. The men have three boys via surrogacy. In 2012, Matt received the Steve Chase Humanitarian Award. He supports the David Lynch Foundation for stress reduction programs for at-risk populations and is an LGBT rights activist. He was given an Inspiration Award during the GLSEN Awards as well.
