Jamie Oliver is a celebrity chef, restauranteur, and environmentalist. He has appeared on dozens of television programs and advocates for clean, healthy eating. He has pushed for and succeeded in getting healthier foods in schools in England. Two of his shows in America focused on sustainable farming and sourcing of food. Proceeds from some of his shows have gone to solar energy projects. In London, he has installed wind turbines to assist in power consumption in his restaurants. He has approximately two dozen books as well.
James Trevor Oliver was born in 1975 in Clavering, Essex, England. He has two siblings and attended Newport Free Grammar School. Jamie has dyslexia and left school at sixteen years old. He went on to attend the Westminster Kingsway College. He earned a City & Guilds National Vocational Qualification in home economics.
Jamie was a pastry chef, then a sous chef before he appeared on Christmas at the River Cafe. Several television series roles led to him being awarded the MBE for services to the hospitality industry in 2003. He has opened restaurants as well and trained young chefs from disadvantaged backgrounds. He has been involved in controversies, but also has been very successful in his pursuits. In 2016, Jamie started an international meal subscription service with HelloFresh.
Back in 2000, Jamie had married. He and his wife Juliette have had five children. They live in his hometown of Clavering, Essex, England.
