Taboo is a rapper, singer-songwriter, DJ, author, and actor. He is known as being a member of The Black Eyed Peas. He has, also, made his own music and collaborated with other musicians.
Jamie Luis Gomez was born in 1975 in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from Rosemead High School in 1993. Before graduating, The Black Eyed Peas got its start in 1988. Initial members called the group Atban Klann. After Easy E died in 1995, the group renamed themselves The Black Eyed Peas and Jamie joined them. They signed with Interscope Records and released their debut album in 1998. They gained critical acclaim. In 2003, Fergie joined the group. They went on to win Grammy Awards and sell around 60 million records worldwide.
Taboo became a solo artist in 2008. His music has been made in movie soundtracks. In 2014, he released a solo single. More music and collaborations have been released.
Taboo was married in 2008. The couple had two children. He, also, has a son from a previous relationship. His co-authored autobiography Falling Up: My Story was released in 2011.
In 2014, Taboo was diagnosed with stage 2 testicular cancer. He went through treatment and is now cancer free. In 2016, he released the single “The Fight” to chronicle his cancer battle. He partnered with the American Cancer Society to inspire people to fight cancer.
