Orlando Bloom is an actor, film producer, and humanitarian.  He is well-known for his roles in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Hobbit trilogy, and other epic and fantasy adventure films.  He has been the leading man in roles and part of an ensemble cast in films as well.  He starred in and produced the film The Good Doctor in 2011.

 

Orlando Jonathon Blanchard Bloom was born in 1977 in Canterbury, Kent, England, United Kingdom.  He has an older sister.  He attended the King’s School and St Edmund’School in Canterbury.  In 1993, he moved to London to study Drama, Photography, and Sculpture at the Fine Arts College, Hampstead.  He joined the National Youth Theatre and earned a scholarship to the British American Drama Academy.  He had some television roles before appearing in the 1997 film Wilde.  He then studied acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

 

Shortly after his graduation from Guildhall in 1999, Orlando was cast in The Lord of the Rings.  Additional film roles and awards followed.  He made his professional stage debut in 2007 in London.  He made his Broadway debut in 2013 in Romeo & Juliet as Romeo.  He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2014.

 

Orlando married supermodel Miranda Kerr in 2010.  They had a son in 2011.  He and Miranda separated and then divorced in 2013.

 

Since the early 2000s Orlando has been involved with the environmental company Global Green.  In 2009, Orlando Bloom was announced as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.  Also in 2009, he participated in the ‘Australia Unites’ fundraiser to aid the victims of bushfires.
