A daily dose of Inspiration for you!

Today’s source of Inspiration is exploration and knowledge gained through exploration.  Our universe is filled with places to explore and much to learn.  Earth is the third closest planet to our Sun.

Earth is a dense planet and the largest terrestrial, or inner, planet.  It is the only place known to inhabit life.  According to common knowledge Earth formed approximately 4 and a half billion years ago.  The Moon, Earth’s natural satellite, causes Earth’s ocean tides.  Over 7 billion humans live on Earth in 200 sovereign states.

Approximately two thirds of Earth is covered in water, including the four salt water oceans and to a lesser extent fresh water lakes and other waterways.  The rest of Earth is land made of primarily the seven continents.  Supercontinents formed and then broke up three times.  Life has evolved and Earth is habitable due to liquid water and there is enough energy to sustain metabolism.  The land is divided between cropland, pastures, forests, urban areas, and unused/productive land.  Extreme weather occurs, including cyclones, hurricanes, and typhoons.  There is human-made pollution.  Human activities are linked to global warming.

There are well-over one thousand operational, human-made satellites orbiting Earth.  The largest satellite is the International Space Station.  The first human to orbit Earth did so in 1961.  Almost five hundred people have visited outer space and twelve have walked on the moon.  Six people at a time live on the International Space Station.

There are many ways we have explored and learned about Earth.  Since we are here, exploration and knowledge is ours.  Of course, each of us feeling inspired is our own as well.  Earth is inspirational.  Be inspired!  Have a bright day!
