A daily dose of Inspiration for you!

Today’s source of Inspiration is a celebrity known for being a singer, songwriter, guitarist, musician, television competition show judge, and record producer.  Many people recognize him for the collaborations he’s done and as a husband and father.  This man is Keith Urban.

 

Keith Lionel Urban was born in Whangarei, Northland, New Zealand.  When he was 13 he attended Sir Edmund Hillary College on Otara, South Auckland,New Zealand.  By 17, he lived with his family in Caboolture, Queensland, Australia.  From a young age Keith took guitar lessons, entered local competitions, and acted in a local theater company.  He had, also, performed at country music festivals from the age of ten.  In 1983, he was on an Australian talent competition show, New Faces.  He began appearing on country music television shows and won a golden guitar award at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.  In 1990, he signed with EMI in Australia and released an album.  He toured backing up Slim Dusty and performed at the Grand Ole Opry.  He, also, sang backup vocals on an INXS 1992 live album.

 

Keith moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1992.  He worked with Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, and others before forming the band The Ranch in 1997.  They released one album and Keith continued to work with others.  His self-titled album Keith Urban was released in 1999.  More albums, tours, and collaborations followed.

 

In 2011, he was a voice coach on the Australian version of the The Voice.  In 2012, he became a judge on American Idol.  In 2013, he began selling guitars and accessories on the Home Shopping Network.  He gives a portion of the proceeds to The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation for music education programs and the Grammy Foundation.

 

In 2005, Keith met actress Nicole Kidman at a Hollywood event honoring Australians.  They later began dating and married in 2006.  In 2008 and 2010, Keith and Nicole had daughters.

 

People can be inspired by Keith Urban’s music, other work, and relationships with others.  He has made many inspiring statements about his feelings for others, music, and his other work.  Be inspired!  Have a bright day!
