A daily dose of Inspiration for you!

Today’s source of Inspiration is a celebrity that has followed passions, as well as, opportunities.  This man wanted to become an author when he was in school.  Ethan Hawke has become an actor, director, screenwriter, and novelist.  Dreams/passions and opportunity have seemed to led him to where he is today.


Ethan Green Hawke was born in Austin, Texas.  His parents divorced when he was a few years old and he was raised by his mother.  They moved around, but they settled in New York City.  When his mother remarried when he was ten they moved to West Windsor Township in New Jersey.  When he was 13, he made his stage debut.  He has taken acting and English classes since high school, but has dropped out to pursue acting roles.  One of these times, he was cast in Dead Poets Society.  Before this, he made his film debut when he was 14 in Explorers.


Ethan Hawke has appeared in numerous films, worked on films, appeared on stage, and been nominated for multiple awards.  He has become a published author as well.  The Hottest State: A Novel was published in 1996.  Ash Wednesday: A Novel was published in 2002.  Rules for a Knight was published in 2015.  Under: A Story of the Apache Wars was published in 2016.  “The Last Outlaw Poet” was published in Rolling Stone in 2009 as well.


Ethan was married to Uma Thurman from 1998 until 2005.  They had two children.  In 2008, Ethan married Ryan Shawhughes.  They have had two children.  Ethan has supported the Doe Fund for a substantial number of years.  This organization helps homeless people obtain housing and employment.  He has been co-chair of the New York Public Library’s Young Lions Committee.  He has, also, joined the library’s board of trustees.
