A daily dose of Inspiration for you!

Today’s source of Inspiration is a celebrity known for many things.  Kevin Bacon is an actor, director, producer, and musician.  He is known for his work, but also for a game created using his name and connections: Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.  This game is a challenge to connect celebrities through steps of which they are both connected.  The idea is based on everyone having Six Degrees of Separation between them-self and someone else.

Kevin Bacon has five siblings and was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  In 1975, at sixteen years old, Kevin won a scholarship to attend Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Arts.  When he was just 17 years old, he left his close-knit family to pursue acting in New York City.  He appeared in multiple theatre productions.  His film debut came with 1978’s National Lampoon’s Animal House.  He briefly worked on two television soap operas.  He continued to act in theatre and on screen and won an Obie Award for his stage role in Forty Deuce.

In 1984, Footloose became his breakout role and a box office smash.  He has had other notable roles in JFK, Apollo 13, A Few Good Men, and Mystic River to name a few.  He has been in numerous films.  On television, he starred on The Following.  He has been nominated for and won awards.  He has produced and directed projects, done advertising work, been a spokesman, and joined his brother to form the band The Bacon Brothers.  They have released a half dozen albums to date.

Kevin Bacon has been married to actress Kyra Sedgwick since 1988.  They have a son and a daughter.  They live on the Upper West Side in Manhattan, New York.  The couple have appeared supporting the “Bill of Reproductive Rights” and other causes and/or campaigns.

After the trivia game using his name and career became popular, Kevin decided to start SixDegrees.org.  This charity initiative is designed to link people and their charities.  Donating and fundraising is encouraged, thereby, allowing people to support each other.

Be inspired!  Have a bright day!
