Today’s source of Inspiration is another relatively young celebrity. Lea Michele is an actress, singer, and author. She is known and award winning for her role on the musical comedy-drama series Glee. She has gone on to star in the horror-comedy series Scream Queens.
Lea Michele Sarfati was born in 1986 in The Bronx, New York. When she was a child, she moved with her parents to suburban Tenafly, New Jersey. She began performing on Broadway when she was eight years old, as well, so her parents rented an apartment in Manhattan. By 1997, Lea was homeschooled while living and working on stage in Toronto. Back again in the United States and attending high school, she was on the debate and volleyball teams and participated in choir. In the summers, she attended Stagedoor Manor in the Catskills. She continued to perform on Broadway. In 2008, she performed in the Les Miserables Hollywood Bowl concert.
Lea Michele starred in Glee from 2009 until its end in 2015. She got the role when the series creator found her on Broadway. He felt she would identify with the role. Lea was nominated for and won awards for her portrayal of Rachel on the show. Several of the songs she sang as Rachel have been released. Lea and other cast members went on music tours. She has, also, performed in other musicals, for charity, and with the United States Air Force Tops in Blue before Super Bowl XLV.
In 2012, Lea began working on recording a solo album. In 2013, she signed a book deal for a part memoir, part how-to book titled Brunette Ambition. A follow-up book, You First: Journal Your Way to Your Best Life, was released in 2015. She has had other screen roles and has been known for her philanthropy. She has worked for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, other Broadway causes, animal rights, the Twin Towers Orphan Fund, LGBT rights and equality, The Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Feeding America, and more.
