There are people that are inspirational for multiple reasons. Drew Brees is one of these people. An incredible athlete, a man committed to his family and faith, and a humanitarian. Drew Brees is inspirational.
Drew Christopher Brees was born on January 15, 1979 in Austin, Texas. Both of his parents had athletic backgrounds. He had a younger brother and later, after his parents’ divorce and his father’s remarriage, a half-sister. Drew played baseball, basketball, and football in high school. His success on the football field led to accolades and being college recruited by Kentucky and Purdue. He went to and graduated from Purdue in 2001 with a degree in industrial management. He made records and received awards and honors during his collegiate football career.
Drew Brees was drafted by the San Diego Chargers and played for them from 2001 until 2005. He began playing for the New Orleans Saints in 2006. He has continued to accumulate awards, records, and honors including playing in multiple Pro Bowls. He, also, led the New Orleans Saints to a victory in Super Bowl XLIV.
Drew married his college sweetheart, Brittney, in 2003 and they have had three boys and a girl. They moved to New Orleans after he signed with their team and they still live there. Being a Christian is essential to his life and is addressed with other aspects of his life and career in his book, Coming Back Stronger: Unleashing the Hidden Power of Adversity.
Drew Brees endorsed AdvoCare International. In 2003 he and his wife, Brittney, founded the Brees Dream Foundation to support cancer patients and aid in Hurricane Katrina rebuilding projects, as well as, other worthy causes. Brees has taken multiple USO tours. He has supported other charities including Operation Kids. In 2010, President Obama named him co-chair of the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition.
Drew seems to have used his strengths and his beliefs to be an inspirational athlete and friend/supporter of many. Be inspired! Have a bright day!
