Inspiration can be found everyday. Inspirational success stories can be helpful to us all, especially when the story includes overcoming adversity when we, ourselves, are faced with something. Kris Carr’s success is inspirational. Kris Carr was diagnosed with a rare cancer when she was a young woman. She is now a successful writer, actress, wellness activist, and wife.
In February of 2003 Kris was a photographer and actress. She had been on television programs, in films, appeared in theater productions, and been in commercials. She felt run-down and then ill and decided to go to the doctor. Initial concerns led to tests and a diagnosis. She was diagnosed with epithelioid hemangioendothelioma, a rare vascular cancer affecting her liver and lungs. She was stage IV and her cancer was declared incurable and inoperable.
She went from her work in New York City as an actress and photographer whose business was portraits and head-shots for other actors to interviewing doctors and forming a plan to live with her diagnosis. She became a film-maker and writer. She found a doctor, who like my own current physical therapist, did not claim to have all the answers. George Demetri became her doctor and together they decided she would live with the disease.
Kris Carr took the beginning of her experiences on film. Her story became the documentary Crazy Sexy Cancer. By early 2007 it was out along with the champion book: Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips. Kris founded a blog website crazysexylife.com. Her second and third books, Crazy Sexy Cancer Survivor and Crazy Sexy Diet were published in 2008 and 2011. Crazy Sexy Kitchen was published in 2012.
Kris Carr has built a community of cancer survivors and others that encourages healthy living and shares smart tips on a variety of topics. Filming her documentary led to meeting and falling in love with her husband. They got married in the fall of 2006. Together, they started a production company: Red House Pictures. They live in Woodstock, New York.
Kris Carr proves that success and happiness can come to people despite adversity. Be inspired! Have a bright day!
