Kia Silverbrook was born in Sydney, Australia in 1958. He started Fairlight Instruments in 1977. He invented and developed the Fairlight CVI, a real-time video effects computer, which was released in 1984. In 1985, he founded Integrated Arts, a parallel processing and computer graphics company. Silverbrook has founded multiple companies and developed products in a wide range of disciplines.
Silverbrook’s inventions have included items in fields including digital music synthesis, digital video, computer graphics, robotics, and DNA analysis, among others. From 1990 until 1994 Silverbrook was the executive director of Canon Information Systems Research Australia. In 1994, Silverbrook co-founded Silverbrook Research. This is an Australian research and development and invention licensing company. Silverbrook became the Founder and CEO of Netpage in 1999. Silverbrook is Fouder and Chairman of Geneasys, Genetic Analysis Systems. This Australian company is developing “Key Lab”, which is a medical diagnostic devise to analyse multiple diseases from DNA using a smartphone. In 2002, Silverbrook co-founded Memjet which is a printer technology company. In 2011, he founded Superlattice Solar, a thin-film solar photovoltaic company.
Scientific publications have been co-authored by Silverbrook. These papers are in the Journal of Chemical Physics, Chemical Physics Letters, and the Journal of Physical Chemistry B.
