Inventors are inspirational. Steve Jobs was an inventor and information technology entrepreneur. He was a co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Apple Inc., investor and CEO of Pixar, and the founder and CEO of NeXT. He was a board member of Apple Inc. and Walt Disney Company. He revolutionized personal computers, phones, music, animated movies, computing via tablets, and digital publishing.
Steve Jobs was born on February 24, 1955 in San Francisco, California. He was adopted at birth and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. His biological parents were college students and marriage was not in the cards for them. His adoptive parents, who Steve Jobs saw as his true parents, were Paul and Clara Jobs. Paul Jobs built things around their house and Steve admired this, as well as, was interested in electronics and engineering by the time he was ten years old. In high school, Steve was interested in multiple things and a fellow electronics hobbyist introduced him to Steve Wozniak. Wozniak had already graduated and lived by Job’s friend.
Steve Jobs went to study at Stanford University student union and met Chrisann Brennan. They much later had Lisa Brennan-Jobs. Before this, however, Steve attended Reed College in Portland, Oregon. Concerns about money had Steve stopping school. In 1973, Steve began working at Atari, Inc. as a technician. He traveled to India for spiritual enlightenment in 1974. He and Brennan became Zen Buddhists. He returned to work at Atari and collaborated with Steve Wozniak on an assignment. After more projects, in 1976, Wozniak invented the Apple I computer and they formed Apple Computer. The Apple II was introduced in 1977. Brennan worked at Apple until pregnancy led to her deciding to leave the company. Lisa Brennan was born in 1978. Steve Jobs went on to become one of the nation’s richest people.
Steve met Laurene Powell in 1989. They married in 1991. They had three children: Reed, Erin, and Eve. He continued to work to see his company’s products at the forefront of the information industry. Jobs was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2003. He died on October 5, 2011.
Steve Jobs had 346 patents or patent applications that list him as inventor or co-inventor. His work led to awards and honors. In 2013, he became a Disney Legend. In 2012, he was awarded a Grammy Trustees Award. Other significant awards can be traced back over his career. Many people have honored him. Be inspired! Have a bright day!
