A daily dose of Inspiration for you!

Some people are inspirational because they have and use their talent in ways that capture your imagination.  Other people are inspirational because they are the first or one of the first people to do something. Danica Patrick uses her skill and talent, but is also one of the first women to become a professional athlete in her sport.  She is an American auto racing driver.

She began go-cart racing at ten years old.  Both of her parents were involved in racing before she was born and, in fact, met during a snowmobile race event.  Go-cart racing led to Danica attending the Winner’s Circle Driver Development Academy.  From there she moved to England to race in British national series Formula One events.  Returning to live in the United States brought her to racing in the IndyCar Series.

Danica Patrick won Rookie of the Year awards while racing in the IndyCar Series.  She, also, won IndyCar Most Popular Driver awards and tied or beat records by the few other women who have been professionals in the sport.  In 2010 she started racing part-time for the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

In 2011 she and her sponsor announced that she would be competing full-time in the NASCAR Nationwide Series for the 2012 season.  That year she was awarded the 2012 NASCAR Nationwide Series Most Popular Driver.  NASCAR racing has continued her records as a female racer.

Danica Patrick has worked as a model and spokesperson.  She has appeared on television and in magazines.  She has been part of video games, comics, music videos, commercials, and television series.  She has released an autobiography as well.  She is a celebrity spokeswoman for DRIVE4COPD which raises awareness of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease which affects 24 million people.

Danica Patrick’s skill and hard-work have led to her becoming an inspiration.  Her work both in the world of racing and as a celebrity and humanitarian has been inspirational.  Feel good about things you’ve worked for and/or are skilled at.  Have a positively bright day!
