The Golden Bear is Jack Nicklaus. Jack Nicklaus has set many records during his years as a golfer. From his years as an amateur to his years as a professional Jack Nicklaus is incredible and he is The Golden Bear.
Jack Nicklaus was born near Columbus, Ohio. He excelled at football, baseball, tennis, and track and field as a child. He began playing golf at 10 years old. He attended Ohio State University and played golf as an amateur winning the NCAA Championship once and the U.S. Amateur twice. He studied to become a pharmacist. He also studied insurance. He decided to become a professional golfer after marrying and having his first child.
Jack Nicklaus and his wife Barbara have five children and he retired from golf with 115 professional wins. He has authored instructional books, made instructional videos, and designed golf courses among many other things. He has partnered with his four sons and his son-in-law in Nicklaus Design to design and open hundreds of golf courses. He and his wife have supported numerous charities including those to aid children and veterans. They founded Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation.
