He was one of five children in his family. When he was young the family moved to Wilmington, North Carolina. In high school he played baseball, football, and basketball. For college he went to North Carolina on a basketball scholarship.
Michael Jordan played for 15 years in the NBA for the Chicago Bulls and also for the Washington Wizards. He was a shooting guard and small forward. The Chicago Bulls won six NBA Championships while he was a part of the team and Michael Jordan won the team’s Most Valuable Player Award five times. Michael Jordan was even part of two Olympic basketball teams that won gold medals. He did leave the NBA to follow a baseball dream he and his father shared, but he came back. He is now retired from playing basketball, but is owner of the Charlotte Hornets NBA team.
Jordan Brand merchandise, motorcycles, family, charity golf outings, and being a NBA owner keep Michael Jordan busy today. He had two sons and a daughter with his first wife. He married again and had twin girls. He has been a spokesman for several brands, had shoes named after him, and appeared in the cartoon/live action film Space Jam.
Michael Jordan has donated to and been involved in several charities. Boys and Girls Club of America, Special Olympics, Make a Wish Foundation, Kids Wish Network, LIVESTRONG, UNCF/ College Fund, and many others have benefited from His Airness. The US Senate honored him as a basketball player and a humanitarian. This led him to donate more to Habitat for Humanity to rebuild New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Michael Jordan is committed to helping the world.
