July 4, 1776. Strength, intelligence, courage, and inspiration all led to this wonderful and revered holiday. July 4th of every year is the day that we celebrate our independence and our patriotism. Our Founding Fathers and the Continental Congress agreed on the Declaration of Independence and July 4th as our day of independence and celebration.
From the inspired, intelligent writing of Thomas Jefferson and others to July 4th becoming a paid national holiday everyone in the United States has much to celebrate. Historically people have had dinners, shot off guns, had tremendous bonfires and sang patriotic songs. John Adams wrote to Abigail Adams about how this holiday would forever be commemorated by celebration. Fireworks displays, family reunions, barbeque, playing patriotic music, the wearing of red, white, and blue, and so much more have been added to make the celebration what it is today.
We have a lot to celebrate. There are people in all walks of life and events throughout our history to be inspired by and honor today. From declaring and securing our independence from Great Britain to each step we make in securing every persons equality, freedoms, and rights the United States of America is cause for celebration!
Enjoy your celebrations! Be safe and bring on the red, white, and blue!
