June 26, 2015. Yesterday was a historic day. I feel the need to take a break from my plans to acknowledge yesterday. Love triumphs. Love inspires.
I watched President Barack Obama speak twice yesterday. The first was to announce the decision the Supreme Court made that recognized and made same sex marriage legal. It is now legal everywhere in the United States to marry the person you love regardless of their gender. Everywhere in our land of equality can all people marry the one person they love.
The second time I watched President Barack Obama it was when he gave a eulogy for the dearly departed pastor and senator from South Carolina. Over six thousand people were there and many, many more watched on television. It was a eulogy yet it was an incredible speech. The hate that man brought into that church in South Carolina was transformed into something beautiful and, frankly, love. From the giving, supportive way Reverend Clementa Pinckney lived his life relayed by President Obama to the singing of Amazing Grace the eulogy was incredible and, yes, inspiring.
I hope these events give you the boost that is at times needed to stand up for what you believe in. People have struggled and fought for equality. Yesterday was a victory in the fight for equality. We are equal regardless of race or gender. Love triumphs all.
